IMPACT AI: A Research Lab Built With UWI, Run by Students
The Genius Project does not stand alone. Dunkley built a research lab called IMPACT AI as a collaboration with The University of the West Indies. The lab develops frameworks for AI use in the Caribbean, the practical guardrails and methods that a region needs if it is going to adopt this technology on its own terms rather than simply importing whatever the rest of the world ships.
The most telling fact about IMPACT AI is who does the work. One hundred UWI students have interned in the lab to build solutions. That is 100 young Caribbean people who got hands-on experience building real AI, mentored inside a structure Dunkley created, rather than reading about it from a distance. For a region where most ambitious technical talent has historically left to find opportunity elsewhere, an institution that develops and keeps that talent at home is rare and valuable.

He has personally injected millions into the regional AI ecosystem, and he launched a fund of one million US dollars to help Caribbean entrepreneurs use AI in their businesses.
