Adrian Dunkley

Founder, The Genius Project | AI Pioneer | Forbes Tech Council Member

Adrian Dunkley is one of the Caribbean's most recognized figures in artificial intelligence and technology innovation. With over 15 years of experience in AI and data science, he has dedicated his career to proving that world-class technology talent can come from anywhere, including the islands of the Caribbean.

In 2023, Adrian founded The Genius Project, a Jamaican non-profit dedicated to building careers and quality of life for youth. The organization has since donated millions to youth development programs across Jamaica, funding everything from AI bootcamps to learning disability support programs.

As the founder of StarApple AI, Jamaica's first AI company, Adrian has built AI tools that are transforming financial inclusion across the Caribbean. His models have helped banks, credit unions, and fintech companies reach people who have been traditionally excluded from financial systems, enhancing risk scoring, personalizing credit offerings, and expanding access to financing for micro-entrepreneurs and informal workers.

Adrian's philosophy is simple and powerful: "AI did not replace human intelligence; it amplified it." He believes the real opportunity lies in using AI to make work more human, by freeing people to think, create, and connect in new ways. This philosophy is the heartbeat of The Genius Project.

Beyond his business achievements, Adrian serves as President of the Jamaica Technology and Digital Alliance (JTDA) and sits on multiple committees focused on national security, AI policy, education, and job creation. He was selected by IBM as an AI domain expert to mentor startups worldwide, and he was named Caribbean's Top AI Innovator by UK-based publication CEO Monthly.

In 2024, Adrian was awarded the prestigious Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Jamaica in the Startup Category, a testament to his impact on the region's tech landscape.

As a newly appointed member of the UWI Climate Studies Group, Adrian is extending his AI expertise into climate resilience, working to integrate artificial intelligence into local and regional climate models to protect Caribbean communities.

With The Genius Project, Adrian is channeling all of this experience into a single mission: ensuring that every young person in Jamaica has the tools, knowledge, and opportunities to thrive in the age of AI. From students preparing for PEP exams to sixth-formers tackling CAPE, and from neurotypical learners to youth with learning disabilities, The Genius Project leaves no one behind.
