Mini Game Drag the Animals Home! ๐Ÿ

These Caribbean animals are all mixed up! When you sort things into groups, you are doing what AI does every day.

How to play
  1. Press and hold an animal card with your finger or mouse.
  2. Drag it into the blue Sea box or the green Land box, then let go.
  3. When all 6 animals are home, press "Check! โœ…".
  4. Red animals are in the wrong home. Move them and check again!

Watch & Play The Computer Finds Groups All By Itself! ๐Ÿงฒ

You sorted the animals because you KNEW where they live. But guess what: a computer can find groups even when nobody tells it the answer!

How to play
  1. Look at the grey dots. They are all mixed up, and they have NO labels.
  2. Press "Computer, find the groups! ๐Ÿงฒ".
  3. Watch the dots pull together into 3 groups and get their colours.
  4. Remember: nobody told the computer the groups. It FOUND them. Clever, right?
All grey, all mixed up, no labels anywhere.

Watch & Play The Guessing Line ๐Ÿ“

Miss Pat planted callaloo in her garden in Clarendon. Plants that got more sun grew taller. The computer can draw a special line through the dots, and then use the line to GUESS how tall a new plant will grow!

How to play
  1. Look at the green dots: more sun (going right) means taller plants (going up).
  2. Press "Draw the guessing line ๐Ÿ“".
  3. Now move the sun slider. The gold dot rides the line and guesses how tall the plant will be!
Can you see the pattern in the dots?

Mini Game The Yes/No Game โ˜”

Some computers make choices by asking yes/no questions, one after the other, like a little quiz. Answer the questions about YOUR morning and the computer will tell you what to bring outside!

How to play
  1. Read the big question in the box.
  2. Press YES or NO, whichever is true for today.
  3. Keep answering until the computer gives you its advice!
  4. Press "Play again" and try different answers. Different paths give different advice.
Is the sky grey and cloudy today?

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Parent Learn-Along ยท Week 2

The one idea this week: your child just met four real machine-learning methods in kid form. The animal sorting is classification. The computer finding groups by itself is k-means clustering (unsupervised learning: no labels given). The guessing line is linear regression. The yes/no game is a decision tree. These same four power spam filters, customer groupings, price predictions, and medical checklists.

  • Dinner-table question: "If we showed the computer a crab ๐Ÿฆ€, would it pick sea or land? Why is that tricky?" (Tricky examples are why AI sometimes makes mistakes.)
  • Try together: open your phone's photo app and search "beach" or "dog". That search is a classifier your child now understands.
  • In class this week: machines at work, the Satellite AI Challenge on Wednesday, and using AI to solve problems at home on Friday.

๐Ÿ  Week 2 Home Missions

1. Sorting champion (Tuesday). ๐Ÿงฆ Help sort the laundry or the cutlery drawer. Count how fast you can sort into groups. You just did classification!

2. Trick the grown-up (Thursday). ๐Ÿฆ€ Ask your family: "Does a crab live in the sea or on land?" See if you can find 2 more tricky animals. Tricky examples make AI smarter.

3. Flood game practice (weekend). ๐ŸŒŠ Play the Flood Prediction game again with a grown-up and try to make your flood AI even better.
